Color, durability, and hardness are common concerns. 2. Choose your width and thickness. Custom flooring can be milled to almost any dimension specifications. 3. Choose solid or engineered. We can mill engineered or solid flooring over 1" thick or 1/4" thin. 4. Milling can be plain sawn/flat sawn, rift sawn or quarter sawn, or any mixture of the these. 5. Once you have made up your mind about what options are right for your home, we take a 50% deposit, the flooring is milled to your specifications, then hand finished or left unfinished, and shipped direct to your door. Final payment is taken upon pickup for transit. It is possible to get unfinished hand made flooring with the edge work, texturing, and sanding done for you. All you would need to do is install and apply finish! The Sample Process and Costs In order to sell you a custom floor we must make custom samples. We have a lot of samples already made but most of the time they are not exactly what someone wants. Custom samples are a time consuming laborious job because you are replicating a small portion of the floor. Drying times are just as crucial, and samples often take about 10 days or more to make and ship. The process is can go through a revision or two, so 30 days is a good estimate of how long it will take before you are satisfied with the samples and ready to order your flooring. You floor will then take approximately 30 days to make and ship. While we can make custom flooring much faster, it is recommended that you start your sample process 2 months prior to needing your flooring. Custom flooring also requires a 2 week acclimation process. In order to serve you best and make a batch or two of samples a deposit of $200 is taken up front. This is a small fee considering what the flooring costs and the craftsmanship and time involved in custom sample making. The $200 fee will be credited back upon order. As you can see from the pictures we can do almost anything with wood. Please understand this fee is to weed out customers that are not serious about buying our fine hand crafted custom flooring and to cover some of the costs in making custom samples. The actual cost of making and shipping each batch of samples is over $200 so accuracy of description, pictures, and something for us to match is very important.
